14 vehicles catch fire in Apple Scrapple Festival parking lot | Latest News

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire involving multiple vehicles in Sussex County on Saturday.

The fire was reported in the 18000 block of Wesley Church Road in Bridgeville just after 3 p.m., according to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department and other emergency units arrived on scene and found “multiple vehicles on fire in the parking lot used for the Apple Scrapple Festival.”

An investigation by the State Fire Marshal determined the fire started in one vehicle and spread. A further 13 vehicles were damaged as a result. Damage to vehicles ranged from minor to severe, with damage estimated at $300,000, according to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office.

There were no reports of injuries.

This incident is currently under investigation. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office said there is “no indication of criminal activity related to the fire at this time.”
